Puppies can start training as early as 8 weeks old. It's important to start early to establish good habits and prevent bad ones from developing.
Yes, we offer group classes for socialization and basic obedience training. It's a great way to get started with the basics for your dog to learn important skills.
We use a combination of positive reinforcement and attention redirection to address unwanted behaviors. We will also identify "triggers" and help you better understand how to manage the space around your dog to set them up for success.
You will need to bring a copy of the dogs current vaccination records, any collars or gear that they use, their crate (Ruffland, Impact or equivalent), their favorite toy or blanket (if you want - not mandatory), a bag of their normal food and any medication or supplements for the duration of their stay.
Absolutely! We actually encourage owners to come and visit a couple of times during the duration of the program. It gives us a chance to work with the owners too so that they learn what the dog is learning and be better prepared for the dogs return home.
No! We primarily use the dogs prey drive to shape and mold behaviors, especially during developmental phases of protection training. This is a positive and happy state of mind for the animal, allowing the dog to learn in a conflict free environment. Repetition builds confidence and consistency leads to success. We prefer to build a strong reward history through repetition and consistency that fosters socially neutral dogs. In fact, most of the dogs we work with on a regular basis are a well mannered integral part of the family unit.
The length of time it takes to train a dog depends on a variety of factors, including the dog's age, breed, temperament, and the type of training needed. On average, Basic Obedience Dog Training will typically take 2-3 weeks in our Board and Train Program for the dog to learn the command structure and establish a foundation. For more advanced training like sport/competition or protection work, it can take several months or longer to fully train a dog - depending on the scope of work.
We require a 48-hour notice for cancellations and rescheduling. If you cancel within 48 hours of your scheduled appointment, you could be charged a cancellation fee.
